Metering Project
Project Description
As the campus devotes increased attention to energy demand and supply, accurate metering has become critical infrastructure — needed to measure the true benefit of completed conservation projects and guide future investments in energy reduction. Accordingly, the Urbana campus repaired, replaced, or upgraded utility meters in approximately 85 different campus buildings via a series of projects totaling $2.5 million.
Metering Work Completed
- Repaired or replaced malfunctioning steam meters in buildings
- Provided telemetering hardware and/or software, allowing selected steam meters and chilled water meters to be read remotely
- Installed chilled water meters in 19 buildings served by the central chilled water loop
Dependable utility metering is now installed in the 82 campus buildings that comprise 90% of the annual energy consumption for the campus.
