Retrocommissioning is making sure euipment and mechanical systems work in existing buildings.
It is a systematic approach by a composite team of engineers and tradesmen to analyze a building's systems and maintenance programs to optimize operating conditions and identify energy conservation opportunities.
Several buildings on the University of Illinois
Urbana-Champaign campus have been
retrocommissioned with an average energy reduction of 29% per building. The buildings include:
National Soybean Research Center
Krannert Center for the Performing Arts
Newmark Civl Engineering Building
Turner Hall
ACES Library
Music Building
Facilities & Services recently added a second retrocommissioning team to expand this successful program.
